They say Manchester is the city with everything, except a beach! So where can you go when the sun is shining? It has to be Salford Quays.
Salford in the sun is stunning, and there’s so much to do. Here’s just a little taster of what Media City/ Salford Quays has in store for you in the warmer weather.
HAVE A STROLL AROUND THE QUAYS
So you’ve just got off the tram stop at Media City, and you’re wondering what to do now. Go for a stroll around the water, it’s so picturesque. In the sun, there’s nothing better than watching the beautiful shine off the water. And at the Quays, there’s always benches to sit down, and gorgeous grass if you fancy taking a picnic with you.
GRAB A DRINK AT THE DOCKYARD
After your stroll, you’re probably looking for somewhere to have a drink. I have to say, your options are limited at the moment, (I’m hoping they’ll be far more bars in the years to come), but there are a few options. You can either enjoy cocktails at the Alchemist, or grab a drink at The Dockyard. The Dockyard is a lot bigger and has a massive open space to sit and soak up the sun. And if you ask for your drinks in plastic cups, you can go and sit on the grass if all the benches are full. They also open another pop up bar in the summer and bring out deckchairs!
HAVE SOME DELICIOUS FOOD
With such beautiful surroundings, there’s plenty of outdoor options to sit and eat. In the centre of Media City, there have pop up food stalls – including The Hip Hop Chip Shop if you fancy some fast food. But if you want to enjoy a relaxing, delicious meal while still enjoying the sun, you’re spoilt for choice.
There’s everything from Prezzo to The Botanist, all with outdoor seating. We always opt for Wagamamas, and here’s just one of the delicious meals we have enjoyed there!
These are just three ways to enjoy the sun in Salford. There’s also loads of other fun things to do when the weather is back to being British again. There’s the Lowry outlets, with clothes stores and coffee shops.. the cinema… and you can always enjoy a show at The Lowry Theatre or a tour of the BBC or Coronation Street. Each time you come here, you get another great experience.
