Hello there! And welcome back to The Stoker Story! This week I’m writing my review of the amazing Pieminister, a restaurant dedicated to delicious pies. Here’s a slice of my tasty time there.
Although I’m not a huuuuge fan of pies, I am of a good pun. And the thing that kept Pieminister high on my next “restaurants to try list” was their great marketing. As soon as you get to their Manchester restaurant located in the Northern Quarter, you’re greeted with a yellow sign saying “Let’s Get Pie”, and that’s exactly what I did.
EYE SPY PIE
Pieminister in Manchester is quite small. There’s a couple of tables outside, couple before the stairs and about ten around the back. We dedicated to go on a Saturday afternoon, and of course, it was packed. But we were lucky enough to get a table, next to the big red sign that said “Live and Eat Pie”.
This sign wasn’t the only pie themed message. The staff had “Look into my Pies” on their T-shirts, the wi-fi was called Pie-Fi, among countless more doted around that I can’t even remember. The staff were really friendly too and gave us the menus. There were so many variety of pies, including steak and cheese, vegetarian options and also vegan! All with punny names… from chooks away to moo and blue.
THE APPLE OF MY PIE
I was advised upon my visit to try the mothership. Simply choose your pie and it comes on a bed of mash potato with mushy pease and crispy onions on the top. Plus, not forgetting the delicious gravy you get to poor onto your mountain of mouthwateringness. I chose the “Chicken of Aragon” which was filled with chicken, bacon and tarragon. YUM!
The flavours were so rich and every bite I took felt like I was eating something new and delicious. I take back what I said at the beginning of this blog post when I say I am not a huge pie fan. When I go to Pieminister, I am!
The plate was massive and filling, but the prices were more than reasonable. For two motherships and two cokes it came to just over £20! That’s a great price for all the food, flavours, and great service we had.
