For people around the world, their Christmas party is the night they get suited, booted and completely shit faced. But if you’re like me, you’ll know putting on your glad-rags and being with people who make your life worthwhile is more important than anything.
Another year, another dress…
One of the most important parts of any Christmas do, is what you’re going to wear. However this year, instead of buying something new, I recycled one of my old dresses from around two years ago. It’s from TopShop, mid-length, black velvet with sparkles on it, to make me shine on a cold winter’s evening! You can’t really go wrong with a LBD, can you?
Why did I choose not to buy new one, I hear you ask? After watching Stacey Dooley’s documentary on fast fashion, I’ve made a real attempt to not buy clothes for the sake of buying clothes. Just because I haven’t bought something recently doesn’t mean it still isn’t nice or it isn’t in trend. And of course, I’ve saved a lot of money in the process!
LBD + SILVER & SPARKLES:
So like I said, my dress is from Topshop but as I bought it about two years ago I doubt they sell it anymore. I love how it’s sophisticated, fits perfectly and flatters all the right places. And the slight sparkles (which aren’t overpowering) give it that Christmassy feel.
And the dress wasn’t the only thing I didn’t buy. I wore the same cute earrings and clutch bag I bought when I got the dress, and my jewellery was gifted to me from various birthdays and anniversary’s. The only thing I did buy was my shoes, which I got from New Look for £22.99! They are gorgeous, buy gosh they didn’t half hurt my feet!
I also wore Perrie from Little Mix’s fake eyelashes which were £6 from Tesco and are unbelievably good. They stayed on all night and the glue was easy to use and didn’t show up on the eyelashes.
