Fun, colourful and useful all year round – Zoe Sugg’s new book is so much more than an event manual, it’s a checklist on how to make the most out of every occasion and see the fun side of life.
I’ve been following Zoella or Zoe Sugg for a long time, and have watched her and her brand grow from strength to strength. But with a handful of books already to her name, I was reluctant to see how her new book – Cordially Invited, captioned ‘a seasonal guide to any occasion and making the most out of every day’ – was going to appeal to someone like me… someone who rents a one bed flat and can’t fit more than three people in her living room at a time.
But once again, I was proved wrong by the Zoella brand.
This book is about being the hostess with the mostess, but it isn’t about inviting everyone you know around for a wild Friday Halloween party. It’s about the little things you can do yourself to make the most out of every occasion in the year, even your birthday!
The book is sectioned into spring, summer, autumn and winter – and is filled with genuine tasty food, cake and smoothie recipes, arts and craft ideas, seasonal activities like walks and picnics, and even ‘snack bingo’.
It’s beautifully designed and the pictures are great. And although I’ve never hosted a party or occasion, it has inspired me to decorate my apartment for Halloween, Christmas, Easter, etc, using my own ideas rather than buying items. There’s also very tasty food ideas and treats in there and check lists to guide you through any season or social gathering.
Put simply, this is her, her instagram, her blog and her videos all wrapped into a big, beautiful book. And I don’t think it’s something that once looked at will gather dust on your shelf – it’s something you’ll refer to again and again.. especially when a new season is just around the corner!
